Inaugural Meeting With Chairperson Of University Councils

The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Migos Ogamba, has this morning inaugurated a retreat with Chairpersons of Councils of Public Universities in Mombasa.

The high-level engagement focuses on strengthening governance, enhancing accountability, and aligning university education with national development priorities. Key issues under discussion include good governance and management of public universities, effective and prudent resource utilization and the roll out of the ongoing tertiary education sector reforms. 

The Cabinet Secretary affirmed the Government’s commitment to fostering a robust and inclusive university system that equips learners with 21st-century skills and supports Kenya’s socio-economic transformation agenda. He urged university councils to perform their rightful roles of oversight to position universities towards this vision.
