Examinations Integrity Thursday, March 23rd 2022 University Education and Research Principal Secretary Amb. Simon Nabukwesi has applauded school Heads in Nyeri County for keeping vigilant during the ongoing KCSE examinations and ensuring that there were no cases of examinations malpractice reported in the region.
PS Amb. Simon Nabukwesi oversees opening of examination papers in Nyeri Central Amb. Nabukwesi at the same time asked invigilators to ensure frisking of the candidates was thoroughly done to avoid incidents of students being caught with unauthorized materials in the examination rooms.
The Principal Secretary said that it was unfortunate that technology has advanced and gadgets such as mobile phones were being used to aid in conducting examinations malpractice. He cautioned Centre Managers and all individuals involved in the examinations to exercise professionalism and desist from encouraging candidates to cheat in National examinations.
“If you as a leader can encourage a candidate to cheat in exams then it only means that you were also assisted to cheat” said the PS. The Principal Secretary added that the idea of allowing candidates to cheat is totally misguided, misplaced and an insult to the teaching profession adding that those who support such a practice have no value for honesty, hard work and fair playing ground.
PS Amb. Simon Nabukwesi addresses the media at Nyeri DCC after witnessing the opening of the exam container. Amb. Nabukwesi cautioned that “when such incidences of cheating in examinations are publicized in the media it not only taints the Country’s education image but it will ultimately affect our children and deny them opportunities to pursue further studies abroad since the integrity of the certificates awarded at High school level will be questionable”.
He was glad that security personnel have been vigilant throughout the exercise and asked them to continue being alert until completion of the examinations.
The Principal Secretary who represented the Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha was speaking today at the County Commissioners office in Nyeri Central after overseeing the opening of the exam container and distributing examination papers to the Centre Managers.
He asked the Centre Managers to adhere to the Kenya National Examinations (KNEC) set guidelines and also ensure that the timing instructions are fully followed. PS Amb. Nabukwesi distributes exam transcripts to a Centre Manager at Nyeri Central DCC
